Three Most Common Questions from Parents About Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontists hear these three (3) questions often from parents:

#3: What if my child still has baby teeth? Should he or she still see an orthodontist?
A: Yes. By age 7, enough permanent teeth have erupted for Dr. Zachary to evaluate how the teeth and jaws meet, and to identify current or developing problems.

#2: How do parents know if their child needs orthodontic treatment?
A: The best and easiest way is to visit Dr. Zachary. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends all children have a check-up by age 7. No referral from a dentist is necessary.

And the most common question from parents…

#1: Why is orthodontic treatment important?
A: Straight teeth and properly aligned jaws contribute to good dental health as well as overall physical health. Orthodontic treatment can boost a person’s self-image as teeth, lips, and jaws move into position and improve appearance.

Dr. Zachary Talks Orthodontics to Local Elementary School Children

pulling out a toothFor fifteen years, Dr. Zachary has thoroughly enjoyed providing dental presentations to our local public and private school children. Last week, Dr. Zachary spoke to a packed house at Malcom Elementary School.

In all, Dr. Zachary spoke to over 300 students, each of them walking away with a goodie bag including dental/orthodontic literature, a toothbrush, a toy, and a complimentary frozen yogurt coupon! One of the students was so excited that to honor the occasion, she pulled out her loose baby tooth!

Faith Hill ROCKs Her Braces at the Grammys!

Faith Hill Wears BracesFaith Hill sported her braces on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards. When asked why she needed braces, she mentioned how she did not wear her retainer after having treatment as a child. Kudos to Faith! Even in the public eye, she recognizes the importance of straight teeth not only for her health but, of course, for her beautiful smile!

Faith is representative of many moms who come to Dr. Zachary for orthodontics. They may have that one tooth that bothers them in photos, or their teeth have shifted over the years, due to lack of retainer wear or physical changes that can happen during the childbearing years.

Many options are available to help correct your teeth…why shouldn’t you take advantage of the opportunity? If Faith can do it, you can too!
